What is HomeMe?

HomeMe is a property search app for use out on the street. Point your phone at a house and HomeMe tells you what it is, what it last sold for, and whether it's for sale or to rent, with a link to the full listing. You can also see every home for sale or to rent around you, or around any spot you choose.

Where does HomeMe work?

HomeMe is live on the Isle of Man now, for homes for sale and to rent. It launches next in the London Borough of Hillingdon, including Uxbridge, Hayes, Ickenham, Ruislip and West Drayton, and will then roll out borough by borough across London.

How does pointing my phone at a house work?

HomeMe uses your phone's location and the direction it's facing to work out which house you're looking at. If it isn't sure, for example on a terrace where the houses are close together, it shows you the neighbours on either side so you can pick the right one.

Can I see what a house last sold for?

Yes, in Hillingdon, once HomeMe launches there. It will show the sale history, size, age and energy rating for every home, not just the ones on the market, using official HM Land Registry and energy performance data. This isn't available on the Isle of Man, which keeps its own property records.

How is HomeMe different from Rightmove or Zoopla?

Property portals show you homes that are for sale or to rent, and you search them by postcode or area. HomeMe starts from where you are standing: it identifies the house in front of you, shows its history whether or not it's for sale, and can alert you if a house you like comes on the market.

Can I use HomeMe to find a home to rent?

Yes. Choose rentals to see homes to let around you, with the rent and a link to the full listing.

Is HomeMe useful for property investors?

Yes. For every home you can see its energy rating, size, age and sale history, which helps spot homes that need work. Estimated yields, energy upgrade costs and auction filters are coming soon, and every estimate will be clearly labelled.

Is HomeMe free, and do I need to download it from an app store?

HomeMe is free, and you can browse without an account. It works in your phone's browser, so there's nothing to download from an app store: open it and add it to your home screen, and it opens like any other app. You only need an account to save homes, pin places or get alerts.
